I wouldn't plan on using a single build, the different areas definitely call for different strategies. Just look at the monsters in a given area via guildwiki, etc and define your build to counter what is in the area. For example, Dasha Vestibule needs lots of interrupts

You didn't say what class you were - or does it matter? Do you want to Vanquish all of Elona with one character or spread over several.

Anyway, several of the class specific forums have threads about Hard Mode builds in them. Mine is in the Ranger forum (basically a B/P ranger, but more of a P/B)

When I was Vanquishing Elona I had to try some areas several (if not, many) times, while fine tuning what to use in a particular area, and where the 'trouble' spots are. And, of course, one accidental agro can kill your whole team and just make things harder because of the DP.

i have a warrior and i went hammer kd earthshaker. i took my hero monks and my mm hero and big damage henchies are mesmer 2 els and a monk on the lower parts of elona. once i started to get to the upper parts of elona i have had to change to my 2 els and dom mes. i have had to change my build once i got to the upper areas of elona. always go for the hardest boss first. take your time and use your head (think) watch there movements, dont rush in to any battle and know who you batteling aginst. i currantly have 33/34 vanquished, almost my 11th title.

good luck

Take a necro hero with enfeebling blood. Weakness is very strong in hardmode. Dervish mobs went from hitting me for 180 down to 35-40. Add a few other curses like reckless haste and it pretty much makes all the melee useless. The ai plays the build perfectly as well. Combine this with a mm and you have all your tanks.

I used to go: 2 SF heroes and the curses nec with me as mm and 3 healer hench + earth hench, but now i changed my setup to this:
BHA epidemic ranger, curses nec, lyssa dervish. 3 healer hench and eve. It just seems more stable like this and i havent had any problems with the harder bosses since.
Also the sf targeting seemed messed up to me my heroes would randomly deceide to not attack the same target or even attack what i called and it could cause some problems, sf hitting different targets vs a group with a healer it just takes too long.

The earth hench and cynn both caused me alot of problems as their aoe just makes the mobs instantly scatter and spread meaning they take no damage from other aoe and its resulted in a few wipes where other groups were aggroed because they split so much.

Just make sure whenever you start to vanquish a zone check the boss locations and go straight for any dervish elementalist and ritualist bosses first especially if they are djinn bosses. They can have some really overpowered abilitys so you cant leave them until last.

Excellent points Sazgo.
I also bring 2 SF nukers everywhere in normal mode, but found them to be less effective in HM. I go as ranger with builds varying on areas, but typically BHA, burning arrow or smoke trap builds. I also bring Razah as my splody MM, Olias as curses and the last one varies, sometimes savanah heat with aoe ele, sometimes illusion mesmer and sometimes ZB prot. Henches to round it out with one or 2 healers, warrior, paragon and earth ele for wards depending on area.
